Rusutsu, Hokkaido
Rusutsu is our quiet little ski town nestled in the beautiful mountains of Hokkaido; Japan’s northernmost island. In summer, locals drive up on weekends to enjoy Rusutsu’s amusement park and stunning views. But in winter… that’s when the town truly comes alive.
Rusutsu is Japans second largest ski resort boasting over 500 acres of incredible terrain. Being a smaller town with a shortage of accommodation aside from the main resorts, Rusutsu has much smaller crowds than neighbouring hills meaning you never have to wait in lines and can find endless pockets of untouched pow! With Japan being known for it’s incredible snow it’s no surprise that Rusutsu ranks 5th in annual snowfall.
Here you can see one of Rusutsu's breathtaking onsens, Japanese bath-houses and undoubtedly one of the greatest inventions ever. After an amazing day on the slopes there is nothing better than lounging in a pool of steamy water, watching the sun set as snowflakes collect in your hair.
